Laverne (nee Kirkland) Jankoski, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, in her Arizona home surrounded with love, prayers and her family. Laverne was born Jan. 8, 1914, in Elkhorn.
Laverne lived 93 years and 92 of them were healthy, happy and full of adventure. She was a positive, caring woman who has gone to heaven bringing joy to those who have gone before her.
She loved to cut the grass, plant flowers every spring and enjoyed life in her Wisconsin country home. Every year since 2000, she spent her summers in Wisconsin and winters in Arizona with her daughters. Her passion was horses, and during winters in Arizona, she attended horse shows and saw her daughter Linda win many world championship titles.
She was extremely proud of her family, and is survived by her daughters, Kay Kirkland and Linda Johnson; granddaughter, Tracy Blum; great-grandchildren, Trinity and Ty; her sister, N. Lea Dival; brother, Peter Robertson; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 12:30 p.m. until the 2 p.m. service Saturday, Feb. 24, at Legacy Funeral Home, 2974 Main St., East Troy. Interment is at Oakridge Cemetery.
