Blondina E. ‘Blondie’ Mueller

July 20, 1918 - Feb. 21, 2007

Blondina E. "Blondie" Mueller of Watertown died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007, at Golden Living Center in Watertown at age 88. She was born July 20, 1918, in Lebanon, the daughter of Emil and Emilie (nee Zubke) Dobbratz.

Blondie was a housemother and cook for the Wisconsin School for the Deaf in Delavan for 11 years. She met her husband, Carl F. Mueller, and they married June 5, 1943, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon.

Blondie lived in Waukesha for more than 50 years. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church for the Deaf in Delavan. Blondie also attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Watertown, where services were offered one Sunday a month in sign language. Since Carl and her son Franklin were both deaf, this was a great opportunity for the family to enjoy their faith together. Blondie moved back to Watertown in 2005, and returned to the church of her marriage, resuming membership at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Lebanon.

For seven years she worked at Aero Shade in Waukesha and she retired from the Deerskin Center in Waukesha after 17 years. Blondie and her family enjoyed vacations around the country in the summers. She also enjoyed making crafts and afghans as well as spending time with the children of other family and friends.

Blondie will be sadly missed by her brothers, Raymond (Della) Dobbratz of Beaver Dam and Harold (Florence) Dobbratz of Watertown; sisters-in-law, Dorothy Dobbratz of Hustisford, Verona Mueller of Waukesha, Welthy Mueller of Eagle and Betty Mueller of Janesville; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, on July 4, 2003; son, Frankln A. Dobbratz, on Dec. 6, 2005; sister, Elizabeth Krause; brothers Martin, Alvin Wilford, Edgar and Emil; and two infant sisters, Emilie and Gertrude.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Saturday, Feb. 24, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, with the Rev. James O’Reilly-Christensen officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Golden Living Centers for their devoted care and kindness given to Blondie during her stay there.
