Melvin C. ‘Mel’ Menger

Melvin C. "Mel" Menger of Waukesha passed away peacefully at Waukesha Memorial Hospital on Monday, Feb. 26, 2007. He was 72. He was born in Oconto Falls on Aug. 1, 1934, the son of Dewey and Adeline (nee Firgens) Menger.

He was currently employed at Matteson Technologies in Waukesha. Melvin volunteered for many years at Lad Lake and the Waukesha Training Center. He loved woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sherla (nee Rudolph); three children, Michael (Deborah) Menger of Waukesha, Jill (Brian) Olson of Oconomowoc and Kelly (Todd) Overgard of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren, Bradley, Christopher and Douglas Menger, Ellen, Benjamin and Lucas Olson and Alex and Marli Overgard; two great-grandchildren, James and Charlie Menger; and other relatives and friends.

His parents and a brother, Marvin, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the 3 p.m. funeral service Saturday, March 3, at Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St. (Highway ES), Mukwonago. The Rev. Dean Zemple will officiate. Cremation will follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Lad Lake, P.O. Box 158, Dousman, WI 53118, would be appreciated.
