Melvin D. ‘Mel’ Haessig

Melvin D. "Mel" Haessig, 76, found peace surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Dec. 30, 2006.

Mel, an avid sport fisherman on Lake Michigan, was the captain of the "Tireless" and a member of the Great Lakes Sport Fishermen Club Ltd.

He is survived as the beloved husband of 58 years to Gloria; dear father of Ann (Patrick) Walsh, David (Shari) and Steven (Cheryl); brother of Phyllis (Edward) Malm, Jean, and Richard (Barbara); and brother-in-law of Earl (Carol) and Reed (Judy) Schultz. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral service today, Jan. 4, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the charity of the donor’s choice.
