Doris Ruth Brown (nee Gunther)

April 14, 1923 - Jan. 5, 2007

Lifelong Waukesha resident Doris Ruth Brown (nee Gunther), 83, passed away Friday, Jan. 5, 2007, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was born in Waukesha to August and Martha (nee Schirmacher) Gunther on April 14, 1923.

Doris graduated from Waukesha High School, Class of 1942. She was a life member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ and served as a Sunday school teacher, president of the Women’s Guild and Priscilla Circle. Doris served her community as a Gray Lady during World War II, as an active supporter of the Hadfield School PTA and as a den mother for the Hadfield Cub Scout Pack.

Doris is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, Warren; sons and daughters-in-law, Tim (Susan) Brown of Johnson Creek and Terry (Terri) Brown of Wales; grandchildren, Seth and Shane Brown, Skye Hall and Adrian Brown; and great-grandchildren, Alley, Erin and Robby.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Monday, Jan. 8, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Entombment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.
