Dorothy M. Breit

March 22, 1930 - Jan. 16, 2007

Dorothy Mildred Breit (nee Kertscher), 76, of Muskego, formerly of West Bend, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2007, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.

She was born March 22, 1930, in Fillmore to the late Jesse and Elsie Marie (nee Weiss) Kertscher.

She attended West Bend High School and later became a very hard worker for the Enger-Kress Company. Dorothy was united in marriage to Andrew Roman Breit on Oct. 22, 1949. Both began their union in the city West Bend on Madison Avenue but soon realized that there was more of life to be discovered on an idyllic farm in Kewaskum. This is where they farmed beef cattle, hogs and crops. They raised eight children. Dorothy was a devoted wife and very loving, caring and giving mother. She always put others first, never herself. Dorothy will always be remembered as a loving wife and mother of eight with a heart of gold. Dorothy and Andrew were divorced Jan. 9, 1997, but Dorothy still held Andrew close to her heart.

Dorothy is survived by her former husband, Andrew Breit of Kewaskum; their eight children, Patricia (Roger) Brace of New Fane, Robert (Mary) Breit of Campbellsport, Glorianna (Jerome) Dahm of West Bend, Andrew Jr. (Alice) Breit of Cascade, Cecilia (Jeffery) Waala of Kewaskum, Randall (Victory) Breit of Campbellsport, Sheila Dachs of West Bend and Brenda (fiancˇ Steven Pawlak) of Breit of Muskego; 13 grandchildren, Steven Breit, Aaron Breit, Jamie (Missi) Dahm, Jeremy (Jacki) Dahm, Kenneth Breit, Nicholas Breit, Jeffery Waala, Nicole Waala, Jesse (Jessica) Breit, Shawn Breit, Adam Breit, Charles Dachs Jr., and Carri Jo Dachs; two great-grandchildren, Kiersten Dahm and Dacoda Waala; one brother, Earl (Bernice) Kertscher; two sisters, Forence Pietschmann and Marcella (Rudy) Stadler; and many other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Elsie Kertscher; her sisters, Ruth Kertscher, Mildred (Albert) Galabinski and Evelyn (Hilbert) Reimer; two brothers, Merlin Kertscher and Milton (Helen) Kertscher; a brother-in-law, Albert Pietschamnn; a niece, Barbara Reimer and a nephew, David Kertscher.

A funeral service in honor of Dorothy will be held Thursday, Jan. 25, at 2 p.m. at the Myrhum-Patten Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Brittain will officiate and burial will follow the funeral in Fillmore Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the funeral home Thursday from noon until the time of service at 2 p.m.
