John Henry ‘Johnny’ Lahmayer

John Henry "Johnny" Lahmayer of Vernon died peacefully in the home he built surrounded by his family Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at age 84.

He is survived as the loving husband of 60 years to Doris Mae (nee McKibbin); dear father of Susan (Michael) Lade; beloved grandfather of Frederick John (Brittani) Lahmayer and Heidi Marlatt; and great-grandfather of Brianna and Johnathan Lahmayer and Caleb Marlatt.

During World War II, he proudly served his country in the 451st Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battalion in seven major European-African-Middle Eastern battles and campaigns, including Anzio Beachhead and the Battle of the Bulge. His decorations and citations include one Bronze Star, one Silver Star and one Bronze Arrowhead medal.

He was a carpenter by trade and the proud owner of the Village Hobby Shop in Wauwatosa.

In 1985, he retired from the Waukesha County Park System as its head carpenter.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Feb. 1, at St. James Parish in Mukwonago, 830 Highway NN East. Committal services will follow at Rural Home Cemetery, Big Bend.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society are appreciated.
