James M. ‘Jim’ Higbee

April 28, 1917 - June 25, 2007

James. M. "Jim" Higbee died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Bristol Gardens in Waverly, Ohio, after a brief illness.

He was born April 28, 1917, in Horicon, the son of the late Earl and Clara Higbee. He graduated from Horicon High School and Carroll College in Waukesha.

On Nov. 20, 1941, he married Carol A. Miller of Waukesha at the Methodist church. Last year they celebrated their 65th anniversary.

He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Alan (Judith) Higbee of Cleveland; daughter, Janet Higbee, and granddaughter, Erin Fierman, both of Middlebury, Vt.; brother, George (Marjorie) Higbee of Illinois; sisters-in-law, Helen M. Manning and Mary E. (Paul) Fay of Waukesha; and nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends in many places.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Leo F. and Amy L. Miller, Lois (Gordon) Cheshire, Lyle (Eileen) Miller, Raymond Frank and Maurice Manning; nephews and other relatives and friends.

Jim retired as a chemist at DuPont, working in Niagara Falls, N.Y., and Wilmington, Del.

He will be remembered for his love of music, entertaining others while playing the organ. Everywhere he lived he was involved with model trains. He loved to watch trains go by. He and Carol often traveled on them.

According to his wishes, his body has been donated to the Medical College of the University of Ohio, Columbus.
