Douglas R. ‘Doug’ Smith

Douglas R. "Doug" Smith, 69, of Oconomowoc, died Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at his home. He was born Jan. 21, 1938, in Milwaukee, the son of Elmer and Jeanette (nee Bence) Smith.
He was united in marriage to Janet Kraft on Aug. 10, 1957. He served in the Air National Guard and was employed at Wisconsin Electric. After retirement, he drove school buses for Oconomowoc and Dousman Transport. Doug took great pride in caring for his lawn, and for enjoyment, he attended many Packers games over the years.
Doug will be sadly missed by his wife of 50 years, Janet of Oconomowoc; his daughter, Jodi Smith (Chuck Solveson) of Oconomowoc; nephew, Scott Smith of East Troy; and other nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. He also is survived by a dear family friend, Susie (Carl) Lider of Oconomowoc; and his special canine friend, Piper.
He is preceded in death by his two sisters, Susan Cooper and Jean Smith; and his parents.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 8, 2007, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 145 Lisbon Road, Oconomowoc. Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Cemetery.
