Fern A. Enger

March 26, 1927 - June 5, 2007

Fern A. Enger, 80, of rural Eleva, passed away Tuesday, June 5, 2007, at her home in the town of Pleasant Valley, Eau Claire County.

She was born March 26, 1927, in Mondovi to Alexander and Amanda (nee Stankey) Nimmo. She attended The Canton School for eight years. Fern married Carl William Enger on June 16, 1945, in Eau Claire. She was a homemaker and spent her entire life in the Mondovi-Eleva area. With her husband, Fern played accordion in the Enger Band in the 1940ís until the 1960ís. They played for weddings and house parties.

She is survived by two children, Sharon (Gary) Hazen of Eleva and Roy (Mary) Enger of Independence; four grandchildren, Amy Hazen (special friend David Robinson), Matthew Hazen (special friend Rhonda Carey), Karl Enger (fianceé Joyell Hoff), Don Enger (special friend Kelly Caruso); one great-granddaughter, Azaiah Reese Enger; one brother, Durward (Janice) Nimmo of Waukesha; two brothers-in-law, Fred Enger of Strum and Chester (Hilda) Enger of Northfield; one sister-in-law, Grace Enger of Augusta, WI; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, "Billy;" one grandchild, Mandy Hazen; her parents; one sister, Irma Anderson; and one brother, Ivan Nimmo.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 11, 2007, at Eleva Lutheran Church at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Ted Simpson officiating. Burial will be at St. Paulís Cemetery in Strum.

Friends may call on Sunday, June 10, 2007, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kjentvet-Smith Funeral Home in Eleva. Friends may also call for one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.
