Helen V. Spatz (nee Verhulst)

June 25, 1908 - Feb. 26, 2007

Helen V. Spatz (nee Verhulst) found peace Monday, Feb. 26, 2007, at age 98.

A Waukesha resident since 1947, Helen was active in St. Mary’s parent-teacher association, the YWCA’s Monday Y Group and various bridge groups. Talented in math, she joined her husband in volunteering to help organize the Tax Aid for the Elderly Program of Wisconsin’s Retired Teacher’s Association for the entire state.

She is survived by her children, Sandra (Albert) Schlachtmeyer of Alexandria, Va., Iva (Robert) Gundrum of Menomonee Falls and Dale (Sally) Spatz of Eau Claire, seven grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Spatz, and her brother, Vilas Verhulst.

A special thanks to the staff of LindenGrove, Waukesha, for their excellent care of Helen.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha.
