Donald J. ‘Don’ Rockley

Donald J. ‘Don’ Rockley of Pewaukee died Saturday, March 3, 2007, surrounded by his family at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 81. He was born Aug. 21, 1925, the son of Peter and Catherine (nee Linsmier) Rockley.

Don was a proud veteran of World War II in the Navy. He married Elaine Konicke on May 28, 1949, and they were able to share 57 years together. Don started his own business building homes in the mid 1950s. Don built four of the homes his family lived in during the course of their life. Don worked hard and took pride in doing yard work and enjoyed growing vegetables in his garden. He also enjoyed reading, especially autobiographies. Elaine and Don would frequently go to the public library to read all the latest magazines the library subscribed to. Don walked often and loved going on road trips to many parts of the country.

Donald will be sadly missed by his wife, Elaine, of Pewaukee; sons, James of Pewaukee, Jan (Marilee) of West Allis and Jeffrey (Becky) of East Troy; grandchildren, Joshua, Joel, Jason and Matthew; brother, Tom; sisters, Charlotte and Bernice; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; and younger sister, Ruth Ann.

A Mass will be held for Donald at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, on Wednesday, March 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David Filut officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Burial will be at St. Adalbert’s Cemetery, Milwaukee, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, N19-W24350 Riverwood Drive, Waukesha, WI 53188 or to the Veterans Administration, 5000 National Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53214.
