Lloyd A. Egre

Jan. 15, 1928 - March 10, 2007

Lloyd A. Egre passed away Saturday, March 10, 2007, at age 79.

He is survived as the beloved husband of Dorothy (nee Paulman); loving father of Bruce (Julie) Egre of Cleveland and Susan (Joseph) Krechel of Delafield; cherished grandfather of Kirsten Krechel, Whitney (Bob) Adelman and Griffin Ralston; and great-grandfather of Lily Adelman. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Sally.

Lloyd was born Jan. 15, 1928, in Dane County, to Cora and Louis Egre. He grew up on the family farm and maintained a lifelong interest in farming. He graduated from DeForest High School in 1945 and then served in the Army Engineering Corps. Following his military service, he attended St. Olaf College where he graduated in 1953 with a bachelors of arts in mathematics. He married Dorothy Paulman on June 14, 1952. He acquired his masters degree in mathematics from Southern Illinois University in 1971. He taught English and was principal at Wauzeka Schools from 1955 to 1957. From 1957 to 1992, he taught mathematics at Pewaukee High School where his many roles included cross country coach and athletic director. Following his retirement, his love of teaching and math led to a busy schedule of tutoring.

His community involvement included service on the Pewaukee Police Commission. Lloyd loved to travel with Dorothy, other family and friends. His favorites included his vacation home in Presque Isle, the big Island of Hawaii and Norway, but most of all wherever family was gathered together. Lloyd was devoted to his church, school, community and family. He will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at Yonke and Son Funeral Home, 205 Prospect Ave., Pewaukee. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, March 15, at Redeemer United Church of Christ, W220-N4915 Town Line Road, Sussex. A graveside ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday at Bristol Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie.
