Bernice F. Bigley

May 19, 1912 - March 21, 2007

Bernice F. Bigley, age 94, of New Berlin, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007, at Mt. Carmel Medical & Rehabilitation Center in Burlington. She was born May 19, 1912 in Milwaukee, to Matthew and Jane (nee Sedaj) Ferko. She spent her early life and attended school in Milwaukee.

On July 4, 1938, at St. Lawrence Church in Milwaukee, she was united in marriage to John A. Bigley Sr. He preceded her in death Aug. 19, 1988.

Bernice had been a lifetime resident of Milwaukee and worked as a medical office assistant. She was a member of Holy Apostles Catholic Church in New Berlin and loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Bernice also enjoyed gardening.

Survivors include her sons, John (Sonja) Bigley Jr. and Jim Bigley; grandchildren, Christopher (Nora) Bigley, Cynthia Wuske, Brian (Julie) Bigley, and Rebecca (Jim) Scuric, and stepgrandchildren Lori Bermke and Vince Bermke. She is further survived by seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother, and sisters.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 26, 2007 at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 W. National Ave. in New Berlin, with the Rev. David Filut officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorials to St. Anthony Bread for the Poor Franciscan Charities, 3140 Meramec Street, Saint Louis, MO 63118-9968, have been suggested.
