Virgil E. Gavigan
Virgil E. Gavigan, 82, of Coal Valley, Ill., formerly of Helenville, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2007.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a member of the Rome American Legion Post 513.
He is survived by his children, Sandra (Tony) Jordan of Coal Valley, Cheryl (Martin) Meyer of Helenville, Clint (Anita) Gavigan of Winterville, Ga., and Virgie Gavigan of Mukwonago; brother, Phil (Jackie) Gavigan of Florida; uncle, Delbert (Joyce) Rose of Florida; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren. Other relatives and friends also survive.
Virgil was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; son, Michael Gavigan; granddaughter, Stephanie Meyer; and special friend, Sadie Borchardt.
Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, May 14, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 E. Summit Ave. (Highway 67), Oconomowoc, with a rosary service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Tuesday, May 15, at St. Mary’s Help of Christians Catholic Church, W856 Highway 18, Sullivan. Interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
