John Arnold ‘Unk’ Ebert

John Arnold ‘Unk’ Ebert, 83, of Waukesha, died Monday, May 21, 2007. John was born in Milwaukee on April 19, 1924, the son of Arnold C. and Helen F. (nee Ploszay) Ebert.
John was a 1947 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering and obtained his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. John worked as a transformer design engineer at the Allis Chalmers Co. before becoming the chief design engineer for ASEA Electric in Waukesha. John remained with the company through several name changes and retired in 1996. John was a member of IEEE, Toastmasters International and Faith Baptist Church of Waukesha.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy (nee Luthy) Ebert, who he married Oct. 10, 1970; sisters, Elizabeth J. Mann and Doris O. Romanowicz; sister-in- law, Elizabeth (Gilbert) Quaintance; God-daughter and niece, Susan Birren; nieces, Gail (Chris) Morkemo and Deborah Desjardin; nephews, John Mann, Thomas (Cindy) Mann, Kenneth (Diane) Romanowicz, Mike Romanowicz, Robert (Tracey) Mann and Arnold (Aleta) Romanowicz; 14 great-nieces and nephews; six great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives, friends and his cats, Katie and Foster.
He was preceded in death by his infant brother, Carl; brothers-in-law, John P. Mann III and Donald J. Romanowicz and sister-in-law, Rose Flexman.
Visitation for John will be held Thursday, May 24 from 10:30 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. The Rev. Glen Teasdale will officiate. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Forest Home Cemetery.
