John Hart Cavey Jr.

John Hart Cavey Jr., 86, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 10, 1921, in Waukesha, the son of John Hart and Rhoda Eales Cavey Sr.

He and Ruth Louise Hamilton were married Oct. 15, 1949 in Waukesha. She died Feb. 12, 1999.

He moved to Cape Girardeau in June 2005 from Waukesha, where he was born and raised. He served in the Army from Aug. 20, 1942, to Nov. 21, 1945, where he earned the Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon with two Bronze Battle Stars, six Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe and a Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by a son, John H. (Kathy) Cavey Sr. of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, John Hamilton Cavey Jr. of Waukesha, Marjorie Cavey of Cape Girardeau, Sarah Cavey of Lombard, Ill., Kimberly (Matt) Liebher of Berlin and Kaitlin Cavey of Cape; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody Cavey Kennedy, Emily Semler, Joseph Anders, Daisy Liebher, Johnni Cavey Latus, Isabella Cavey and Selena Cavey.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ruth; a brother, Martin Cavey; a sister, Olive Compton; and a half-brother, Dan McGeen.

There will be no local services. Burial will be at a later date in Waukesha.
