Shirley E. Crepeau

Jan. 9, 1942 - Nov. 6, 2007

Shirley E. Crepeau found peace after a courageous battle with cancer as she entered eternal life Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2007, at age 65.

Shirley was born in Hancock, Mich., on Jan. 9, 1942, to Lauri and Meimi Kilpela and was raised in Aura, Mich., before her family moved to Milwaukee during high school. On Feb. 3, 1961, Shirley married Elwood Crepeau of Milwaukee. During the next 26 years, Shirley and Elwood raised four children in Milwaukee, suburban Detroit, the eastern upper peninsula of Michigan and Denmark (near Green Bay) before relocating to Waukesha in 1987.

Shirley was a housewife, mother, grandmother and servant of Christ. Shirleys gift in life was her compassion for others. After raising her children, Shirley was a loving caregiver for other family members and friends. She was a member of the Finnish American Society of Milwaukee, a local chapter of the Red Hat Society and the Milwaukee and Waukesha chapters of the Vocational Homemakers. Shirley was an active church member and also participated in several prayer groups and support organizations. She never refused to lend a helping hand.

Shirley will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Elwood; their children, Daniel, Jeffrey, David and Michelle; and grandchildren, Andrew, Michael, Rebecca, Jonathan, Joseph, Alex and Kara.

To accommodate her diverse circle of friends, two funeral services will be held. Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 10, at Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church, 700 Beechwood Ave., Waukesha, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. followed by the service. A second visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 1314 Grand Ave., Waukesha, followed by a second service. A luncheon will be served afterward in the church cafeteria.

In lieu of flowers, memorials were requested by Shirley to Grace Evangelical Lutheran Church or to the Womens Ministry at First Assembly of God. A private internment will be held in Michigan.
