John Hart Cavey Jr.

John Hart Cavey, Jr., 86, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Tuesday, November 6, 2007, at The Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 10, 1921 in Waukesha, the son of John Hart Sr. and Rhoda Eales Cavey.

He and Ruth Louise Hamilton were married Oct. 15, 1949 in Waukesha. She died Feb. 12, 1999.

John moved to Cape in June of 2005 from Waukesha, where he was born and raised.

He served in the Army from Aug. 20, 1942 to Nov. 21, 1945, where he earned the Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Ribbon, two Bronze Battle Stars, six Overseas Service Bars, one Service Stripe and a Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by his son, John Sr. (Kathy of Cape Girardeau, Mo., as well as five grandchildren: John Hamilton Cavey Jr. (Ruth) of Waukesha; Marjorie Cavey of Cape Girardeau; Sarah Cavey of

Lombard, Ill.; Kimberly (Matt) Liebher of Berlin, and Kaitlin Cavey of Cape Girardeau. He also is survived by seven great-grandchildren: Cody Cavey Kennedy, Emily Semler, Joseph Anders, Daisy Liebher, Johnni Cavey Latus, Isabella Cavey, and Selena Cavey.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Martin Cavey, half-sister Olive Compton and half-brother Dan McGeen.

Burial will be at Prairie Home Cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha, on November 16, 2007 at 1 p.m.
