She married Norton F. Brierton on May 16, 1947, at St. Mary of the Hill Catholic Church at Holy Hill. Norton preceded Genevieve in death May 18, 1999, following 52 years of marriage.

Gen was raised in the Princeton area. She was a graduate of Waukesha High School. The Briertons lived in Mukwonago until Norton retired in 1976. Gen was a beautician and had maintained her license until recently. She owned and operated a shop in Mukwonago in the early 1950s and a shop in North Prairie in the early 1970s.

She enjoyed bluegill fishing and gardening. Gen especially loved her roses. She had a large collection of teddy bears, and had a teddy bear Christmas tree each year. Gen also gave presentations to a number of groups on the history of teddy bears.

Gen was a faithful member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro, and had been a member of St. Markís Catholic Church in Redgranite. She was also a very active member of the St. James Altar Society. She was known for the delicious apple pies she made for the St. James annual picnic.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Nancy) Brierton of Pewaukee and Tom (Bonnie) Brierton of Junction City; two grandchildren, Michael and Sandra; and a sister, Angela (Eugene) Ossman of South Carolina. Gen is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends and her special golden retriever friend, Casey.

She was preceded in death by her son, Peter Lynn Brierton, who died in infancy; her husband, Norton; her parents, Julius and Frances; and a sister, Henrietta Olds.
