Dr. Darrell Macy Martin

Dr. Darrell Macy Martin, 85, of Pewaukee, died Thursday, Oct. 18, 2007, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born April 21, 1922, in Cicero, Ill., the son of Darrell Macy and Edith (nee Strom) Martin.

He married Virginia Wilkin on Nov. 26, 1944, at Shorewood Presbyterian Church in Shorewood. Darrell proudly served in the U.S. Navy as lieutenant junior grade from 1944 until 1946. After obtaining his masterís degree and Ph.D from Lawrence University in Appleton, he later was employed as a chemical engineer for Envirex in Waukesha for many years until retirement. Darrell was an active member at Kettle Moraine Presbyterian Church in Stonebank, where he was an elder for 15 years. He was a supporter of the Pewaukee Public Library, where he enjoyed spending time. Having a love for the outdoors, he especially enjoyed tending to his own tree farm and garden.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Wilkin Martin of Pewaukee; three children, the Rev. Mark (Carol) Martin of Iowa City, Iowa, Deacon Todd (Colleen) Martin of Madison and Mary (Jeff) Bublitz of Pewaukee; six grandchildren, Scott (Lisa) Martin of Puyallup, Wash., Rob (Barbara) Martin of Seattle, Katie Martin of Tacoma, Wash., Maureen Ann Martin of Madison, Matthew Bublitz (fiancee Mandy) of West Bend and Meghan (Jeremy) Breidenbach of Sussex; and two great-grandchildren, Lindsay Martin and Joshua Martin.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Oct. 21, at Kettle Moraine Presbyterian Church, N66-W32690 Highway K, Hartland. A fellowship will follow. Burial with full military honors will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
