Jack Murphy of the town of Merton passed away peacefully Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, following a short journey with cancer at age 72. Jack was born Oct. 5, 1934, to parents John and Mary (Kiley) Murphy.
He attended Merton Grade School and graduated from Marquette University High School in 1952. Following graduation, Jack spent the rest of his life living and working on the family dairy farm. In 1972, he married Jan "Janice" Grauman. A former member of the Land o’ Lakes Baseball Team for 17 years, Jack was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997. Jack earned his pilot's license at Crites Field in Waukesha, and was a faithful member of St. Charles Catholic Church.
He was the beloved husband of Jan for almost 35 years; loving father of Sheila (David) Paquet of Ixonia and Ryan (Michelle) Murphy of the town of Lisbon; proud grandpa to Mckayla and Brenna Murphy and Willow Eske-Paquet; and dear brother of Kathleen (Harvey) Hohl, Joan (Richard) Rowland and Avita (Richard) Hughes. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends, relatives and neighbors.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Mary (Martin) Weber and his brother, James Murphy.
Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 6 p.m. funeral Mass Tuesday, Sept. 11, at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Drive, Hartland, followed by a reception. Burial will be in St. Charles Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the St. Charles Building Fund, St. Vincent dePaul Society, Rolland Nelson Crossroads Hospice or the charity of donor’s choice.
