Richard V. Johnson

Richard V. Johnson, 79, of Janesville, died Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2007, as the result of an automobile accident. He was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Stoughton, the son of Julius and Beatrice Johnson.

Richard was a graduate of Stoughton High School and then served in the U.S. Navy. He married Arlene Pick of Monroe on Aug. 7, 1949.

Richard earned bachelorís and masterís degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie. After working a short time as an industrial arts teacher in Hilbert, he served as a teacher and administrator for the Waukesha School District until his retirement. Four years ago, Richard and Arlene moved to Cedar Crest Village after enjoying their winters in Sarasota, Fla., and summers in Conover.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene; daughters Susan (Carl) Hipp of Racine and Barbara (Don Geier) Johnson of Overland Park, Kan.; grandchildren, Alex Hipp and Erica Hipp; and brothers, Duane (Joyce) Johnson of Conover, Robert (Dorothy) Johnson of Merrill and Allen (Mary) Johnson of Conover.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Henke-Clarson Funeral Home, 1010 N. Wright Road, Janesville, with the Rev. John Froiland, Cedar Crest chaplain, officiating. Richardís family will meet friends in the Cedar Crest dining room following the services.

A memorial fund is being established in Richardís name.
