Russell William Miller

Russell William Miller of Pewaukee passed away at 84 years of age at his home surrounded by his loving family Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007.

He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen (McGowan) Miller; son, Bill (Val) Miller of Bayside; son, Tom (Candy) Miller of Pewaukee; grandsons, Nick Miller of Cedarburg and Matt (Julie) Miller of Watertown; great-grandchildren, Tyler Rudolph, Jasmine Miller and Jacob Miller; daughter, Lynda (Doug) Jablonski of Oconomowoc; grandchildren, Samantha Jablonski and Ben Jablonski; sister, Jacquelyn Landers of Wind Lake; as well as four nieces, seven nephews, nine grandnieces and 11 grandnephews and other relatives and friends.

Russ was preceded in death by his brother, Ken, who died in 2006, and his sister, Marilyn Miller, in 2005.

During World War II, Russ served in the U.S. Army. Decorations and citations included the Victory Medal, the American Theater Ribbon, the European-African Ribbon, the Middle Eastern Ribbon, two Bronze Stars, two overseas service bars, a Good Conduct Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. Russ was a member of the Pewaukee American Legion Post 71 for 62 continuous years.

Russ and his brother, Ken, owned and operated Miller Bros. Heating Co. from 1947 to 1985 and laundromats in Pewaukee and Waukesha.

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service Friday, Sept. 21, at St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church, N27-W24000 Paul Court, Pewaukee (at the corner of Paul Court and Highway 164, between Capitol Drive and Interstate 94). The Rev. Thomas Papazoglakis will be officiating. Interment will follow immediately.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to St. Bartholomew’s Episcopal Church in Pewaukee, The Pewaukee Historical Society or the Pewaukee Public Library.
