F. Rachel Gunderson

F. Rachel Gunderson, 89, of Black River Falls and formerly of Taylor, died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls. She was born Oct. 1, 1918, in Taylor, to Frank and Nellie (nee Fieldstadt) Curran.

She graduated from Hixton High School in 1936 and married Howard N. Gunderson in Indiana on Jan. 9, 1943. They lived in Waukesha. Rachel was employed as an Avon sales representative for 40 years.

In 1993, following her husbandís death, Rachel moved from Waukesha to Pine View Terrace in Black River Falls. She was a member of the Taylor Lutheran Church and was active in the Taylor Lutheran Church WELCA organization. In November 2007, she became a resident of the Family Heritage Care Center in Black River Falls.

Knitting and baking were two of Rachelís favorite pastimes. She especially enjoyed making Norwegian baked goods for family and friends. She also enjoyed traveling with the Prime-Time Club.

Rachel is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Curtis) Grunske of Waukesha; two grandchildren, Mark (Mary) Grunske of Mukwonago and Mike (Vanessa) Grunske of Greendale; and four great-grandchildren, Teddy, Lewis, Kate and Jack.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard, on July 28, 1993, and by two brothers, Robert in 1939 and Archie in 1996.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral services Saturday, April 19, at Taylor Lutheran Church, 111 Church St., Taylor, with the Rev. Mark Kvale officiating. Burial will take place in Sechlerville Cemetery in rural Hixton.
