Marguerite C. Steuerwald
April 7, 1924 - April 20, 2008
Marguerite C. Steuerwald (nee Gerstenberger) of Waukesha passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008, at age 84. She was born April 7, 1924, to Arthur and Adele Gerstenberger in Milwaukee.
Marge was a 1941 graduate of Rufus King High School. Mom would talk about that time in her life with such enthusiasm that we would be awed by her intelligence and envious of her spirit. You could smell the bag of hot pecans she would pick up on her way home.
Marge worked at Northwestern Mutual before meeting Earl "Bud" Steuerwald. They married in May 1950. Together, they had five children, but she raised them alone. Her children were her greatest joy in life until her seven grandchildren were born, which would again change with the arrival of her nine great-grandchildren.
Marge leaves broken-hearted - but with wonderful memories - her four daughters, Jean (Jeff) Parrott of Pewaukee, Carol Hemker of Watertown, Lynn (Wally) Dable and Patti (Jim) Kreidler, both of Waukesha. She was greeted in heaven by her only son, Robert, who passed away in October 2006, leaving her broken-hearted, but with wonderful memories. Grandma "Grams" leaves her undying love to her grandchildren, Robert (Diana) Parrott, Tammy Parrott, Heidi (Scott) Tewksbury, Jared (Amanda) Dable, Rebecca Mishleau, Michael (Jenelle) Bacon and McKenna Hemker. Marge was a great-grandma to Lexi, Bella, Logan, Michael James, Hunter, Ashlynn, Damien, Lexi and Sawyer. Mom would always say she owned the bragging rights to the cutest "Greats" anywhere. She was "Granny" to Kalei Jade, her friendly little neighbor. Addressing one of her great loves, she leaves behind her very sad four-legged friends, Harley, Annie, Hazel and Emmy, along with her grand-doggies, Duke and Caro.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Friday, April 25, at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Chapel of the Flowers, 132nd Street and Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Burial will follow.
