Ervin L. "Erv" Vanderhei, born Oct. 2, 1920, died Wednesday, July 30, 2008.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tari A. Venne, and siblings, Marianne, Dorothy, Eileen and Wayne.

Erv will be deeply missed by his wife of 66 years, Louise Vanderhei (nee Burt); his son, Robert (Sandra); his grandchildren, Kelly (Jay), Wendy, Marcia (Jeff), Steve (Shannon) and Monica (Steve); great-grandchildren, Michael (Khusboo), Samantha, Cody, Melissa, Veronica, Jennifer, Sawyer, Taylor, Mathew, Steven Jr., Kathryn, Abby and Evan; and his great-great granddaughter, Michealla. Erv is also survived by his siblings, Don, Doug, Chuck, Tom, Susie and Karen, and nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.

Erv graduated from Antigo High School in 1938. After graduation, he proudly served his country during World War II in the Army Air Corps as a member of the 506th Fighter Group and was part of the invasion of Japan, stationed on Iwo Jima. Erv was a technical sergeant who worked as a radio mechanic on P51-D Mustangs. Erv was a retired machinist at Waukesha Foundry and a longtime member of the Eagles Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 721. Erv’s greatest joy was his loving family. His pride for and commitment to his family and extended family will be the legacy he leaves behind. We love you most Gramp!

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m.until the 7 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Aug. 7, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Burial services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 8, at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Waukesha.
