Charles D. Lockman

Charles D. "Chuck" Lockman, 80, a resident of Racine, passed away Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Wheaton Franciscan-St. Marys. He was born in Waukesha on Sept. 12, 1927, a son of the late Earl and Verene (nee Otten) Lockman.

Chuck graduated from Waukesha High School and attended Carroll College. He served in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II and in the U.S. Army in the Korean conflict, serving in Asia in both cases. He worked for the A&P, Golden Guernsey Dairy and owned his own Dog n' Suds Restaurant in Menomonee Falls before moving to the Racine area, where he worked for Ninnemanns and then Walters Food Distributors and Reinharts Food Distributors.

Surviving are his three sons, David W. (Blakey) of Stevensville, Mont., Bill (Susan) of West Allis and John (Louise) of Mequon; stepdaughter, Susan Gustafson of Lake Geneva; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Dorothy of Las Cruces, N.M., and Gerda of Waukesha; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, David B.; brothers, Bob, Dick, and Jim; and his wife, Pat (nee Patterson).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 13, at First United Methodist Church of West Allis, 7520 W. Lapham St., West Allis, (414) 774-5500. A private inurnment will be at Pinelawn Memorial Park.
