Raymond R. Kerr

Raymond R. Kerr, a longtime Hartland resident most currently residing in Jefferson, passed away Monday, Aug. 11, 2008, at age 80.

Ray was born in Brookfield to parents Arthur and Edna (Hanson) Kerr and moved to the family homestead at an early age. He was a graduate of Hartland High School, where he lettered in football and basketball. He served in the U.S. Army overseas in Korea during 1947 and 1948. Raymond retired from the Department of Transportation in 1990 after 16 years of working for the highway department. A lifetime member of the Hartland Veterans of Foreign Wars Marshall Johnson Post 5158, Raymond was active on their marching drill team. He was a member of the Montello American Legion and a former member of the Hartland Fire Department. He also belonged to Our Saviorís Lutheran Church in Hartland and St. Lukeís Church in Rome. An avid outdoorsman, Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He took great pleasure in spending time with his family as well as the years he spent living at Buffalo Lake.

Raymond was the last surviving member of the 12 Kerr children. He is survived by his wife, Grace (nee Foss); his five sons and three daughters, Linda (Tim) Gallagher of Madison, Scott (Bonnie) Kerr of Wautoma, Brian Kerr of Iola, Kyle (Carol) Kerr of Phillips, LuAnn (Robert) Mattke of Jefferson, Thomas (Dawn) Kerr of Delafield, Tim (Laurie) Kerr of Jefferson and Lisa (Dale) Sukow of Jefferson; 23 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to his siblings, Ray was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; daughter-in-law, Edie; and grandsons, David and Daniel.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 12:30 p.m. funeral service Friday, Aug. 15, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. Burial with military honors will follow in Hartland Village Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Hartland VFW post.
