Hermann Avers Nunnemacher

April 11, 1914 - Aug. 7, 2008

Hermann Avers Nunnemacher of Chenequa, born April 11, 1914, was born to eternal life Thursday, Aug. 7, 2008. He was the son of the late Henry Jacob and Gertrude Fink Nunnemacher.

He was a lifelong advocate of patriotism and local charitable, Native American and conservation causes. Hermann worked for 72 years and was chairman emeritus and CEO at Galland Henning Nopak Inc. of West Milwaukee. Hermann enjoyed outdoor pursuits, music, life on the lake and cannoneering. He was a founding father of the Helliger Huegel Ski Club, a member of the Pine Lake, Pewaukee and South Shore yacht clubs, as well as the Milwaukee Zither Club. He was a former United States Ski Association and Inland Lakes Yachting Association champion. He competed in class A, E, C and Kitten classes.

He is survived by his children, Harry A., Heidi A., and Heath A., and his sisters, Audrey Pertl and Barbara McCallum. He is further survived by his cousins, Jonathan (Penny) Harper and Helga von Alemann, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, dear friends, dedicated care staff and loyal employees.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, Rudolph and Jacob; son, Jacob Robert Nunnemacher; and Jane Nunnemacher (nee Snead), the mother of Harry.

A celebration of life will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at Chenequa Country Club, with a reception to follow. A Requiem Mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Church of St. John Chrysostom in Delafield.

Memorials appreciated to the Milwaukee Public Museum, the Museum of Wisconsin Art in West Bend or a charity of the donorís choice.
