Edward J. ‘Ed’ Matejka

Edward J. ‘Ed’ Matejka of Waukesha died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 62 from complications following a heart attack. Ed was born in Berwyn, Ill., on March 15, 1946, the son of John and Betty Matejka. He married Margaret "Meg" Wilson on Nov. 28, 1969.
Ed served in the U.S. Army Reserves for six years. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Carroll College in 1968 and his Master of Science in Education from Indiana University in 1972. Ed spent his career working in the insurance industry. For the last five years he was employed at Acuity Insurance. Ed will be remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, and as an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and bird hunting.
Ed will be deeply missed by his wife, Margaret; their son, John; their AFS son, Timo Kunz of Germany; his half-sister, Evelyn Rouse; and other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents and his three half-brothers.
A memorial service for Ed will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at the Delafield Presbyterian Church, 1851 N. Genesee St., Delafield, WI 53018. The Rev. Bob Jenson will officiate. A visitation for Ed will take place from 2 p.m. until the time of the 4 p.m. service.
