Herman F. Loebl, 90, most recently of Saugatuck Township, Mich., was born to eternal life Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at his home. He was born Aug. 26, 1918, in Milwaukee to Herman J. and Helen (nee Schmidt) and spent his retirement years at his Lake Michigan home.
Herman grew up in Waukesha and attended Waukesha High School, where he was valedictorian of his graduating class, and then went on again to be at the top of his class at the Marquette University College of Business Administration. He received his Bachelor of Science from Marquette University in 1941 and his MBA from Harvard University in 1942. He married the former June Hulbert on June 19, 1943. Herman served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1946.
He was a professor emeritus and served as associate dean at the Marquette University College of Business Administration, retiring in 1984 after working there for 38 years. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and several honorary fraternities, including Alpha Sigma Nu and Beta Gamma Sigma.
Herman is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, June Loebl; a daughter, Margaret Loebl of Champaign, Ill.; sons, Donald (Anne) Loebl of Augusta, Ga., John (Patricia) Loebl of Lakin, Kan., the Rev. Jeffrey Loebl S.J. of Milwaukee and James Loebl of Green Bay; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Robert (Anne) Loebl of Holland, Mich.
Herman was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Schuetze, and his brothers, Frank and John Loebl.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Thursday, Dec. 4, at Gesu Catholic Church, 1145 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee.
