Merle ‘Bud’ Kruse and Margaret Kruse

Merle "Bud" Kruse, 82, and his wife, Margaret Kruse, 79, of Jefferson, died at Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha as a result of an automobile accident.

Merle was born in Nelson on Nov. 27, 1926, the son of Henry Theodore and Julia Barbara (Berni) Kruse.

Margaret was born in Berlin on Nov. 1, 1929, the daughter of Lloyd D. and Alma (Fust) Clark.

On May 13, 1950, the two were married in Berlin.

Bud and Marge enjoyed a wonderful retirement together, traveling and nurturing their many friendships in life. They had a special place in their hearts for family, especially their grandchildren.

They are survived by their son, Gary (Janet) Kruse of Waukesha; daughter, Debby (Paul) Bowey of Waukesha; Margaret’s sister, Elaine (Curtis) Bernhagen of Markesan; and her sister-in-Law, Virginia Clark of Berlin; four grandchildren, David Bowey, Michael (Courtney) Bowey, Liesl Bowey and John Kruse, all of Waukesha; and three great-grandchildren, Krystal Hughes, Amber Bowey and Christian Bowey. They are further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Ronald Clark.

Merle was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Clifford (Madeline) Kruse; and four sisters, Malvia (William) Helgoe, Naomi Kruse, Fern (Orville) Hill and Vivian (Carl) Leo.

Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 11 a.m. Mass of Christian burial Friday, Dec. 5, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, with the Rev. Jay Poster celebrating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Fort Atkinson. Military graveside rites will be conducted for Merle.
