Elizabeth ‘Bettie’ M. Byrne

Elizabeth "Bettie" M. Byrne of Waukesha died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2008, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at age 86. She was born in Waukesha on Feb. 13, 1922, the daughter of Herman and Muriel (nee Menick) Yopps.
She was a 1940 graduate of Waukesha High School and on May 29, 1948, married her husband, James Byrne. Bettie was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post No. 5716 in New Berlin. She was a lifetime member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, where she was a part of the Christian Women. Bettie was a very devoted wife and loving mother.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, James Byrne of Waukesha; her children, Michael Byrne of Mukwonago, Patricia Byrne, Stephen (Claudia) Byrne, Timothy (Roxanne) Byrne, Thomas Byrne, Kathleen (Fred) Gamez, Colleen (Steven) Bauer and Terrence (Christine) Byrne, all of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Eric, Lauren and Allison Byrne of Brookfield, Jeffrey (Angelique) Byrne of Waukesha, Andrew (Maureen) Byrne of Wauwatosa, Rebecca (Matthew) Freisleben of New Berlin, James and Suzanne Byrne of Waukesha, Gabrielle and Elise Gamez of Waukesha, Emily Bauer and Zachary Jaeger, both of Waukesha; and her great-grandchildren, Isabelle Freisleben, Camden Byrne, Josephine Byrne and Connor Gamez. Bettie is further survived by her sisters, Sally Byrne of Waukesha and Lois Seidl of Butler; her sister-in-law, Margaret Farner of New Berlin; along with nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Eleanor (the late Howard) Ramstack, Evelyn (the late Edward) Krahn; brothers-in-law, Conrad Farner, Howard Byrne, Francis Byrne and Roland Seidl; and her daughter-in-law, Laura Huebner Byrne.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. A parish vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. The Rev. Bill Key will preside. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
