Howard Walter Schedel

Howard was born on March 2, 1934, in Lebanon, S.D., to Rosie and Paul Aldrich, and passed away Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2008. Upon the death of his parents, he was adopted by August and Marie Schedel. He attended schools in Lebanon, Waukesha and Lake Geneva.

Howard served in the Army Medical Corps as a medical room technician. He worked for Parker Price for many years at Grove Farms and also worked as a maintenance supervisor for the Mount Shasta Elementary School District, retiring after 20 years, and moved back to Waukesha. Howard taught 4-H woodworking for the Spirit Of Waukesha 4-H Club. He was a member of Bethesda Presbyterian Church and served as an elder. Howard retired to Ocala, Fla., returning to spend the summers at Blackhawk Campground in Milton.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn "Joy" of Ocala; his daughters, Carol Schedel of Beachwood, N.J., Marjorie (Hans) Kurzawa of Lewistown, Mont.; and his sons, Robert (Kathleen) Hogeland Sr. and Joseph Hogeland Sr. of Ocala. Howard is also survived by 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and his sisters, Helen Schedel of Tallahasse, Fla., and Pearl Morehead of Gettysburg, S.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Marie Schedel; his sisters, Mildred Eberle, Lucille Hatch and Iris Sprague; and his brothers, Lloyd Aldrich, Keith Aldrich, Kenneth Aldrich and Dondald Weagley. Two babies died in infancy.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. funeral service Thursday, Dec. 11, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with Rev. Al Nichols officiating. Entombment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.

He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
