Joseph M. Weishaupt
Oct. 23, 1923 - Dec. 11, 2008
Joseph M. Weishaupt, 85, of Dousman, passed away Dec. 11, 2008, in his home surrounded by those who loved him most.
Joe was born in Piggsville to his immigrant parents, Joseph and Mary Weishaupt, on Oct. 23, 1923. He grew up in the Milwaukee area, served in the United States Army and for 34 years worked at Schlitz Brewery. Joe was a humble man who was willing to do menial labor so others wouldn’t have to. After he retired from Schlitz, he worked as a favorite handyman to many so they could stay in their homes a little longer. He had the gifts of hospitality and compassion and sheltered all who came to his door.
Joe was the treasured husband of Angela, his dearest friend; the loving father of Guy Weishaupt of Winter Park, Colo., Leslie Vandorf of Hartland, Lori (Michael) Fuller of River Falls and Josie (John) Trad of Dousman. He was also the cherished grandfather of Daniel and Rebekah Trad, Sydney and Sawyer VanDorf, and Joseph and Nathan Fuller.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, and many of his good friends.
There will be a worship service to honor and celebrate Joe’s life at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, at Highview E.P.C., S50-W33042 County Road GE, Dousman. The family will receive condolences from 2 p.m. until the time of service. The Rev. Dennis Henn will be officiating, with dinner to follow.
No flowers please. Instead, Joe would have wanted you to rescue a dog, feed the birds and support your church.
In life, Joe always thought of others first. His kind, gentle spirit will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
Mealy’s Funeral Home is assisting the family. For further information, please call 594-2442.
