Ross A. Langill

Ross A. Langill of Waukesha, a local attorney, passed away at his Florida home Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008.
Mr. Langill was born Aug. 3, 1923, in Menominee, Mich., and grew up there where his father was president of the Prescott Company (currently Giddings & Lewis). He graduated from Beloit College and then served in the U.S. Army in India during World War II.
Returning from the war, he graduated from Harvard Law School and went into practice in Waukesha. He helped to write the charter for the city of Brookfield and became active in civic affairs, serving as president of the Waukesha County Bar Association and on the grievance committee of the Wisconsin State Bar Association.
Mr. Langill was an active supporter of the Milwaukee Art Museum and the Friends of Art as well as the Waukesha Symphony, where he was president of the symphony board.
He was predeceased by wife, Marily, and a daughter, Jean.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Florida; sons, Ross (Ellen) of Waukesha, Norman (Jane) of Seattle, Scott of Washington, D.C., Stephen (Ginny) Beier of Waukesha and Virginia (Jon) Herbrand of Oconomowoc; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
A celebration of life will be held April 18 at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha.
