Lois L. Johnson

Lois L. Johnson, 80, of Waukesha, died peacefully at home to be with her beloved husband, Jimmy, on Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2008. She was born Aug. 9, 1927, in Evansville, the fifth of seven children to Darrel and Nina McCaslin.

She married James E. Johnson on Aug. 11, 1946, in Rockford, Ill., at Trinity Lutheran Church. Together, they had five children and primarily lived in Rockford, with some years in Chicago and Woodstock, Ill. After moving from Rockford in 2002, she lived in Waukesha.

Lois’ passion in her life was her family - devoted and loving husband, children and grandchildren. She took great pride in their accomplishments and gave unselfishly of herself. She was a wonderful homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

She will be forever loved by her children, Jacquelyn (John) Benedict of California, Ronald (Linda) Johnson of Illinois, Jennifer (Donald) Johnsen of Dousman, Mark (Shelley) Johnson of Ohio and Lorine Smith of Waukesha; grandchildren, Marshall Benedict of California, Carolyn (Rob) Rathburn of Minnesota, James M. Johnson, Julie Johnson of Illinois, Gregory (Kelly) Johnsen of Genesee Depot, Jeffrey (Kim) Johnsen of North Prairie, Nicole (Brad) Foss of Rosendale, Ryan (Trisha) Johnson of South Carolina, Aimee Johnson of California, Dustin Smith and Ashlee Smith of Waukesha; great-grandchildren, Taylor, Alexa and Easton Benedict, Lucas Johnson, Abigail Johnsen and Max Rathburn; sister, Kathleen Cowan of Janesville; brothers, Don (Doris) McCaslin of Evansville, Eugene (Alice) McCaslin of Merton and Robert (Maddy) McCaslin of Milton; sisters-in-law, Joan (Don) Norton, Barbara (Swede-Don) Engstrom and Irene Johnson; as well as an unbelievable number of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jim; granddaughter, Yvonne; parents, Darrel and Nina McCaslin; and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the 4 p.m. funeral service Friday, Feb. 29, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Greenwood Cemetery in Rockford.
