Juanita J. Smith

Mrs. Juanita J. Smith, 91, of Waupaca, passed away Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008, at Crystal River Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Smith was born in the town of Springwater, Waushara County, on Aug. 3, 1916, the daughter of the late William and Josephine (Brigham) Williams-Christensen.

On July 24, 1937, she married Marlin Smith in Mount Morris. He preceded her in death April 1, 1986. Juanita was a teacher for more than 30 years. She taught in Waushara and Waukesha counties and for the Elmbrook School District. She was a member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waupaca, the Wisconsin State Teachers Retirement Association and the National Teachers Retirement Association.

She is survived by her sisters-in-law, Arvilla (Norman) Christensen of Waupaca, Ruth Smith of Wild Rose and Roseada (Al) Thornton of Wautoma; brother-in-law, Robert (Gladys) Smith of Grand Marsh; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marlin; sisters, Ethel Jensen, Merna Post, Mildred Williams and Lucille Eastman; and brother Earl Williams.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, March 2, at Holly Funeral Home, 526 S. Main St., Waupaca. Visitation continues from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, March 3, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1120 Evans St., Waupaca, with the Revs. Jeffrey Holtan and Aaron Winkelmann officiating.
