Donald L. Wright

Donald L. Wright, 91, of Mondovi, died Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Sacred Heart Hospital.

He was born Aug. 18, 1916, in Aitkin, Minn., a son of the late Leo and Edith (Shissler) Wright.

He attended and graduated from Aitkin High School.

On Dec. 26, 1938, Donald was united in marriage to Helen Welch at their home in front of the Christmas tree. Helen preceded Donald in death in 1980. Donald, in his later years found the companionship of Algia Kohlman, a dear relationship that lasted until her passing in 2002.

Donald was a longtime farmer in Waukesha until he and his wife relocated to the Mondovi area in 1973. At that time, Donald began his employment at Chippewa Falls Datsun Dealership as their parts manager. He was a member of Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church in the town of Naples, Buffalo County.

During his days in Waukesha, Donald was responsible and proud for starting the 4-H group there. He was also a member of the Waukesha Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed both fishing and hunting and was an avid "Packer Backer" and sports enthusiast of high school, college and pro sports.

Donald will be sadly missed by his children, Ruth Bartlett of Pinnelas Park, Fla., Lois (Earl) Borsos of Chippewa Falls, Sandra (William) Wright of Chatfield, Minn., Dr. Lynn Wright of Albuquerque, Vicki (Bruce) Northey of Playas, Mexico, and Michael (Sandra) Wright of Mondovi; Algia’s children, John (Phyllis) Kohlman of Modena and Patricia (Gino) Oleson of Mondovi; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Roger (June) Wright of Aitkin, Minn.; and by several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; dear friend, Algia; a brother, Robert Wright; and a grandson, Earl Borsos II.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 5, at the Trinity of Norden Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Bangert officiating. Burial followed at the church cemetery.
