Dorothy Harter, formerly of Waukesha, died after a long illness Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Auburn Rehabilitation Center in Auburn, Wash. No memorial is planned.
Dorothy was born in Waukesha on Dec. 29, 1923. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1941 and attended Marquette School of Nursing in Milwaukee and St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Racine. In her later years, Dorothy became a talented artist whose exhibited works brought much joy to her many admirers.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Emma E. (nee Schaeffel) and George M. Harter, and her brother, George W. Harter.
Dorothy is survived by her twin sister, Donna M. (Wright) Vander Wegen of Packwood, Wash., who was in loving attendance at Dorothy’s bedside at the time of her death; nephew, Peter (Terrie) Vander Wegen of Spokane, Wash.; and niece, Tara Vargas of Portland. Two grandnieces, a grandnephew, several cousins, friends and caregivers will also mourn the loss.
