Betty Jean ‘Betty Boop’ Mendell (nee Knutson)

Betty Jean "Betty Boop" Mendell (nee Knutson), 74, a former longtime resident of Oconomowoc and formerly of Kempster, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at Helen Ellis Hospital in Tarpon Springs, Fla.

She was a past member of the Order of Eastern Star and a life member and past president of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary Post 2260 in Oconomowoc.

Betty was a past member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ and choir in Dousman and was a member of the Holiday United Church of Christ and choir, as well as a Lady of Pasco County 315 High 12 Club in Holiday, Fla.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, LeRoy Sr. of Holiday; four children, Debbie (Gary) Goodman of Johnson Creek, Sandy (Harold) Stevens and (Cindy) Burdus Galbraith Jr. of Kingsland, Ga., and LeRoy "Bubby" (Lisa) Mendell Jr. of Fort Atkinson; two brothers; Robert (Lucille) and Ronald (Charlotte) Knutson Sr. of Eustis, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia (Brenning) Livermore, and a grandson, Shaun Livermore.

Visitation will be held from noon until the 2 p.m. funeral service Saturday, Jan. 19, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc. Interment will be held at Delafield City Cemetery.
