Roger W. Steinbring

*Roger W. Steinbring of Sussex passed away Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at age 82.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an ambulance driver and received a Bronze Star at the Battle of the Bulge. He retired from Harley-Davidson after 25 years of employment.

Roger is survived by his wife, Mildred; his stepchildren, Beverly (Stan) Dittman, Jean (Joe) Dunn, Jim (Rosanne) Pope, John (Marleen) Pope, Mary (Gary) Bosshard, Ray (Pam) Pope, Gary (Wendy Stewart) Pope and Tim (Joenelle) Pope; and numerous stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister, Lois Matthews; his brother, Gyle (Amelia) Steinbring; and his good friend, Jim Bleth.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Inez (Jess) Simmons; his sisters, Betty Steinbring and Gilda Busse; and two infant sons.

A memorial gathering will be held from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. military service Friday, Jan. 25, at Evert-Luko Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. A private burial will be held in Lisbon-Merton-Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family are appreciated.
