Wallace ‘Wally’ Conrad Andersen

Wallace "Wally" Conrad Andersen of Waukesha, 66, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2008, surrounded by his family and friends. He was born in Racine on April 6, 1941, the son of the late Alvin Louis and Ruth Lillian Andersen.
Wally grew up in Racine and graduated from Washington Park High School in 1959 and was active with their choir. In 1959, he married the former Patricia Jane Modine. She preceded him in death in 1984.
Wally was the owner of A Dickens of a Place Antique Store in Waukesha. He was a founding member of the Midwest Tool Collectors Association, an active member in the Lions Club and a board member of the Wisconsin Antiques Dealers Association. He had been a recognized and respected expert in antiques, woodworking tools, early American furniture and American Indian items.
Survivors include his sons, Michael Wallace (Catherine) Andersen of Shorewood, William Arthur Andersen of Baltimore and Mark Richard (Sarah Lawrence) Andersen of Eureka, Calif.; his grandchildren, Regan, Devin and Stellan Andersen; his brother, Richard Louis (Diane) Andersen of Racine; and his fiancee, Sara Altenbern Semrad, and her children, Samantha, Tyler and Thomas. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends
In addition to his parents, Wally was preceded in death by his brother, Alvin Russell Andersen of Eugene, Ore., and his niece, Kristan Mary Andersen of Racine. It was his wish to be buried with Kristan at Holy Cross Cemetery in Racine.
A celebration of Wally’s life will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Jan. 31, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with words of remembrance being shared at 7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be donated in Wally’s name to the charity of the donor’s choice.
