Dorothy J. Thorgersen

Dorothy J. Thorgersen of Brookfield died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2008, at Froedtert Hospital at age 80. She was born April 10, 1927, in Racine, to Vincent and Gertrude (nee Nelson) Bahl.

She was a cadet nurse during World War II. In 1948, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing at Marquette University. In her earlier years, she worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph Hospital and then enjoyed staying home and raising her family. She was a member of the Medical Society Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading books, attending plays and traveling. She has been a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church since 1964.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Thor, whom she married June 19, 1948, along with their children, Thor M. (Mary) Thorgersen of Appleton, Vincent J. (Patricia) Thorgersen of Hampshire, Ill., and John G. (Janice) Thorgersen of Green Bay. She is further survived by eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Services will continue at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 2, with prayers beginning at 9:15 a.m. followed by the procession to St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, for the 10:30 a.m. funeral Mass. The Very Rev. James T. Volkert will preside. Cemetery services and entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery inside the mausoleum chapel.
