Wendie Levitz Siegel

Wendie Levitz Siegel of Pewaukee died peacefully Wednesday, June 25, 2008, at age 62, after a long battle with breast cancer.

Wendie grew up in the Bronx, N.Y., and throughout her life lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., and Brookfield. She graduated with a Bachelor of Education in industrial arts from City College of New York. She went on to get her master’s degree in mathematics from Long Island and Marquette universities. She loved teaching her "chickadees" and was a master teacher. Today, there are numerous adults whose lives were changed for the better due to Wendie’s influences.

Wendie had many diverse interests, but her favorite things to pursue were spending time with her school buddies ("E" friends), shopping, scrap booking and playing Mah Jongg.

Wendie is lovingly survived by her husband of 40 years, Larry; daughter, Phyllis (James) Musial; son, Randy (Jessica, nee Bunucci) Siegel; and sister, Gail (Lyle) Spector. She was the treasured Grammy of Karina Gemma Siegel. She also loved her "Grand pup," Footer.

She was preceded in death by her father, Milton Levitz; mother, Grace Levitz; and a nephew, Corey Spector.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Oncology Alliance, Rolland Nelson Crossroads Hospice and all of Wendie’s friends who helped her along this difficult journey.

Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. time of sharing Saturday, July 5, at Becker Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Please bring a memory of Wendie to share with others. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, fruit or plants, memorials to the charity of your choice providing cancer care or research, including any Crossroads Hospice, would be greatly appreciated.
