Charles E. "Chuck" Swinehart

Charles E. Swinehart, "Chuck," of Hartland passed away Friday, July 11, 2008, at age 79.

Chuck was born in Park Falls to Charles W. and Mildred (nee Schmitt). He was a 1947 graduate of Random Lake High School. He served in the Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict and taught communication electronics in Seoul, Korea. On Nov. 12, 1949, he married Jean Ann Kerr and together they made their home in Hartland. Charles started working for Wisconsin Bell in 1947 and retired from the telephone company after 45 years of employment. Chuck was active in the Hartland community as a member of the Marshall Johnson VFW Post 5158 and the Hartland Fire Department for more than 40 years. He was also a member of the CWA (Communication Workers of American Union). A sports enthusiast, Chuck enjoyed fishing, bowling and hunting.

Survivors include his children, Susan (Bob) Kosanke of Hartland, Nancy Nutter of Hartland and Mark Chopper (Becky) Swinehart of Milton; and his grandchildren, Nick Nutter, and Sarah and Emily Kosanke. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, especially those at Twin Oaks.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Jean Ann; his parents; his sister, Lois Laux; and his son-in-law Jerry Nutter.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 17, at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hartland Village Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the services Thursday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartland Fire Department or Twin Oaks.
