Robert A. Easterling

Robert A. Easterling found peace and comfort July 12, 2008. Robert was born to this life Jan. 23, 1922, in Darien to Peter and Lulu (nee Welch) Easterling.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years and the love of his life, Naomi (nee Marcks) Easterling; brother, Welch Easterling; sister, Mildred Henschel; daughter, Deanna (Larry) Bowman; and son-in-law, Arthur Gove.

He is survived by three devoted children and their spouses, Willa (Earl) Mack, Donald (Caryn) Easterling and Sheryl (Patrick) Marshall. He is also survived by his twin sister, Roberta Blodgett.

His fun-loving spirit and sense of adventure will be missed by his adoring grandchildren, Arthur Gove Jr., Beth Ann (Dan) Bohlmann, Robert Gove, William Gove, Daniel (Sue) Bowman, Kim Ninneman, Donald (Danielle) Bowman, Amanda (Charles) Kirby, Erin (Eric) Flood, Stephanie Easterling, Shaun Marshall and seven great-grandchildren.

Robert was educated in the Darien public schools and served in the 187th Paraglider Regiment, 11th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army in World War II. He was employed for 30 years by Outboard Marine Corp. as a machinist prior to retirement, at which time he worked part-time at the YWCA in Waukesha. In 1993, Robert received the Waukesha Chamber of Commerce’s fourth annual Joseph D. O’Connell Award for his dedication and willingness to achieve as an employee of the YWCA. One of his proudest achievements was receiving his amateur radio operator certificate. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Waukesha, as well as AMVETS Post No. 14 in Milwaukee.

Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. service today, July 15, at Wisconsin Memorial Park Chapel of the Flowers, 13250 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Private entombment will follow.
