Lillian V. Lauber

Lillian V. Lauber (nee Nelson), 77, died Sunday, July 13, 2008, at Heartland of Pewaukee after a serious four-week illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fred A. and Gwendolyn (nee Bender); two infants, Dennis M. and Patty; and a brother, Fred Nelson.

For nearly 60 years, Lillian was married to her beloved, teenage sweetheart, John Francis Lauber. They met while working at Dousman Masonic Home when she was 16 and he was 17.

Lillian was the devoted and proud mother of Ronald J. (Rachel), John Frederick, William B. (the late Ellen), Steven G., Lori J. and Gary L. (Alice) Lauber; grandchildren, Craig, Sarah, Katie, John and Emily Lauber; sisters, Beverly Duve, Leona (Reinhold) Weber, LuAnn (Bernie) Heying and Lynn (Dan) Baron; and sister-in-law, Mary Nelson. She is further survived by many dear relatives and friends.

Lillian was a longtime resident of the village of Wales. She graduated from Pewaukee High School and was an electrical assembler and loyal employee for more than 16 years at Generac Corp. in Waukesha. She steadfastly stood by her husband and became a service mother to her children during 40 years of their active duty in the military and conflicts.

She loved to crochet afghans for the children and collect cookbooks. While attending auctions and hobby shows with her husband, they became acquainted with and made many dear friends.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 W. Bluemound Road, Waukesha. A noon service will follow the visitation. A private burial will be held at Salem Cemetery, Wales.
