Daniel Thomas Price
March 8, 1942 - April 28, 2008
Daniel Thomas Price went to eternal rest in Ventura, Calif., on Monday, April 28, 2008, after a five-year struggle with brain tumors.
He was born March 8, 1942, the eldest child of Parker and Berdena Price of Grove Farm in Waukesha.
He is survived by his wife, Gail A. Price; son, Jeffrey S. Price of Ventura; sister, Carol Wright and husband Jim of Chadron, N.E.; brother, James and his wife Julie of Waukesha; aunt, Jean DeGrothy; sister-in-law, Jan Martin; brother-in-law, David O. Jeffreys; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
Dan grew up on the family dairy farm west of Waukesha and attended Torhorst, a one-room country school for grades one through eight. Four years later, in 1960, he graduated from Waukesha High School. He was very involved in 4-H activities and Bethesda Presbyterian Church. Following Danís graduation from Carroll College, he taught elementary school at Northview and later Blair Elementary in Waukesha for several years. Dan then attended Kansas State University and graduated with a masterís degree in regional and community planning. He worked in planning departments in several Midwestern states (South Dakota, Missouri and Nebraska) before moving to California. Most recently, Dan worked for the Ventura County Resource Management Agency, and his last position was as the film permit coordinator. He enjoyed his permit work on such films as "The Cat in the Hat," "Memoirs of a Geisha," "Seabiscuit" and "The Aviator."
While his son was growing up, much of Danís spare time was spent in the YMCA Indian Guide and Trailblazer organizations and running the food booth for the Buena High band and color guard program.
Dan was a gentle man and will be missed.
The family thanks Livingston Memorial Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice as well as Dr. Eric Leibovitch, Ventura County Family Care Center and his staff for outstanding continual care and follow-up with University of California Los Angeles specialists.
